Urban Villa, Great West Quarter, London, UK
Custom Art Deco-style automatic sliding doors with wheelchair-accessible access and a reinforced stainless steel facade framework
Heritage-inspired design, structural facade integration, and full accessibility
Urban Villa is part of Great West Quarter, an award-winning regeneration project centred around the historic 1930s Art Deco Wallis House, combined with new homes, shops, cafés, offices and a landscaped piazza. As part of this large-scale urban transformation, the entrance needed to reflect the building's heritage character while meeting modern accessibility standards.
BDS Entrances was commissioned by a client to design, manufacture and install bespoke automatic sliding doors in Art Deco style, fully wheelchair accessible. A robust stainless steel framework was developed and built around the doors, allowing the entrance to act as a structural support for the surrounding façade.
The result is a stable, transparent entrance with underfloor hidden operators, blending period-appropriate design with reliable modern technology for effortless daily use.
Designed for heritage and accessibility
At Urban Villa, the entrance needed to honour the Art Deco character of the historic Wallis House while ensuring full accessibility for all visitors. BDS Entrances developed bespoke sliding doors that reflect this distinctive style without compromising on modern usability.
Comfort-focused engineering
With a robust stainless steel framework and underfloor hidden operators, the doors deliver a stable, transparent entrance that supports the façade while operating smoothly day to day.
A future-proof entrance solution
Built on a strong working relationship with the client, the entrance at Urban Villa reflects BDS Entrances’ ability to combine heritage-sensitive design with dependable, long-term performance.
