The World Port Center on Kop van Zuid in Rotterdam is a landmark office building designed by Sir Norman Foster Architects. The original entrance was completely out of proportion with the building; too low, too wide, visually dated, and standing away from the façade, creating the impression of a divided entrance.
The entrance was fully restored and brought back to its full potential with a sleek 5.5 metre high revolving door, designed in collaboration with architect Graziosi Progetti. Distinctive oblique LED lighting and a unique ambient glow in the ceiling of the revolving door transform the entrance into an architectural feature worthy of this iconic Rotterdam landmark.
Despite its impressive height, the revolving door is fully compliant with the DIN EN 16005 safety standard is proving that striking design and certified safety go hand in hand.
Restored to match its iconic surroundings
The original entrance fell short of the prestige expected from a Norman Foster-designed landmark. A full restoration brought the entrance back in line with the building’s architectural ambition with proportions, lighting and detailing that finally do justice to one of Rotterdam’s most recognisable office towers.
